What's On My Bed !!

I am hooking up with Bonnie Hunter's blog today.... she is asking the question...What's on your bed?? The linky party is showing what everyone has on their beds at this time. For me, I have my very first quilt class quilt on my bed. It is a huge quilt. I made it 22 years ago....

...sadly it sat as a top only for 18 years. It was to big to quilt myself. I had a hard time giving my quilt over to another quilter. But, I had a great friend convince me it was ok.... It turned out to be a great decision. Now it is done and beautiful!!!

The class was a block of the month...we came back to the shop every month until it was done.

I had a great time in that class...it really started my love affair for quilting :):)

Most of the times my quilt is folded up like this...ready for a happy nap, when ever needed. And of course my poodles are always ready for a happy nap :):)

Thanks for stopping by.... be sure to go over to Bonnie's blog and check out the rest of the beds.

Have a great week.

Great quilt! I send most all my tops to a long armer, or they would never get finished in my lifetime. (cute pups too!)

What an ambitious first quilt project. I'm sorry it took so many years to get quilted, but the payoff is that it will 18 extra years until it will wear out!

Such a beautiful quilt! It looks wonderful on the bed, and I love the 'happy nap' phrase...I nap often, but now I will call them 'happy naps!'

Hi Sandra,
I had to drop in and see your quilt, because I've apparently been chasing you all over this blog hop. All my comments on the blogs come right after yours! :-)

Your bed quilt is lovely. I'm glad you had the courage to have it professionally done so that now you can enjoy it. (And the poodles can too! They are super cute!) I love it folded at your bed base, but it is even more stunning all spread out. How special that you get to enjoy your first class quilt every single day! Mine still sits as an unfinished topper up in an old cedar chest. Maybe someday......

You did a lovely job on it!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful 1st quilt with us. I wouldn't keep it folded up, it's too pretty and I definitely wouldn't share it with puppies.

That is a beautiful quilt Sandie, and an outstanding first quilt. Nice to have the memories of the class and working together on such a nice project. I see the doggies like it also.

On the grandkids twin beds I have an antique patchwork quilt made by my husbands aunt, and on the other one a quilt I made to copy it (as close as I could) about 10 years ago.

I love sampler quilts, and yours is beautiful! It took me a long time to get my first bedsize quilt quilted too, but so worth it in the end!

Wow, I just came across your blog post and it is very similar to my story regarding the quilt on my bed! I took my first class in 92, made a huge log cabling quilt and it sat for 18 years before I finally got the motivation to quilt it. thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt.
