Making A Scrappy Quiltie and Giveaway!!

I am doing a Quiltie class this morning again. I love teaching the Ladies who come to the class every month, and trying to get them to jump out of their quilting box from time to time :):) It's fun to try something new..right??? Here is a small tutorial about how I go about putting a bunch of scraps together. I am just playing and having FUN!! ....Enjoy!!
First... grab a bunch of scraps, and press them flat.

Now you want to trim them up into any shape you want. I place the pieces on a fusible batting. (or you can use spray stuff too)  Then I iron them down with a HOT iron.

Then the edges that are over lapping the other fabrics need to be glued down. I use Tombo Mono Aqua Liquid Glue. ( I love this glue) It works great with fabric. You can find it a Joann's and other craft stores. I place a little bit on the edges of the fabric, press it down with my fingers...then I place my iron on it to make sure it is completely dry.

Awesome glue.

Then I flip over the project and trim the edges to the batting!! Add a back, and get ready for quilting and adding lots of fun stuff :):)

I start adding yarns, ribbons, and all kinds of yummy things.

I put my machine on a tiny little zigzag and hold my yarn and just let the yarn flow over the project.

Here is the final piece...can I add anything more?.... this is were I have a hard time...when do I stop. :):)

But...I'm not done yet!!

Here I have flipped over the piece and chop it up to the size pieces that I want. 2 (4x6) pieces, and 2 (atc's). It is always a mystery at this point...I can't see the other side...so who knows what will show up when I turn them over :):)

Cool pieces right!! It is so fun to try and use your scraps up by just playing with the leftover pieces. At this time I will finish the edges, and add embellishments. (the bling:)

Here is finished quiltie # 1

Finished quiltie # 2.

Sneak Peek At My New Book !!

I am in love with this kind of book. These books are called hybrid books. Which means... you buy the designed papers from an artist online and print them out on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of card stock and make your scrapbooks or art journals. Once you buy them you get to keep them forever. You can make cards out of them or smaller scrapbooks for a friend...whatever you want to do. The designer of this is Marion Smith...she is super talented!! I LOVE her stuff!! She comes out with a new book every month...you buy how ever many pages you want. Her idea is to make a journal monthly...while taking a picture every day and place it your journal.  I am just buying the books I like and doing my own thing. I have gotten away from my scrap booking for a while and plan to get back into it with these hybrid journals. You can check out her site here. She also does You tube video's on how to bind her books and put the pages together. Just search her name on you tube..and she will come up.

Here is my spine all nice and pretty :)

The front of this journal says February on it...so I needed to cover that up. My Mom makes me the most wonderful doilies... I use them in my art when ever I can. Then some flowers and bling :):)

Now I will show you some pages on the inside...this book is filled with tags to pull out, and envelopes to fill...just yummy!!

I loved this book because of all the butterflies in it :):)

All these pages were printed onto card stock. Marion has wonderful you tube video's that show you how to put the pages together. Just GREAT!!! She does an awesome job!!

My first page with my Teddy Bear!! ( what is my issue with the bears?!? :) Those who follow my blog know I call my kids Baby Bears, myself Momma Bear...and I guess my husband Teddy Bear :):) Oh well :):)

I will leave you with my last photo of me getting some puppy love :):)

Have an awesome week every one...I know I will...MY MOMMY is coming to town:):):) I pick her up tomorrow. Two whole weeks with her..yes!!! I love my Mom!!
Bye Ya'll

Color Makes Me A Very Happy Girl !!!

I'd like to start by saying thank you to everyone who left me encouraging comments the other day!! You made my day :):) Thank you , Thank you !!! I just needed a little extra loving that day ...and I got it!!

So, I have been journaling!! After writing the last post I sat down and made a journal from scratch. Painted the covers, and started working on my first spread. It was wonderful to get my fingers messy and sticky...at times I found myself laughing.. I was making such a mess :):) It's really fun to get messy...you should really try it :):) Hope you enjoy my pages......
The cover of my new journal.

I put down some leftover scrapbook paper.

Added some Neocolor II to the page.

Then more paint, tissue tapes (I am sooo in love with tissue tape) rubber stamping, glitter, and I colored some modeling paste and used one of my stencils to get the raised affect that you see with the orange in the photo.

I had to add some lace, buttons, and flowers of course :):)

Here is the finished spread!! I will give you some close ups too!

I used a photo of myself :):)

I just love the way it turned out.

I also worked on a page of my fabric journal as well.

I only got to one side of the spread though. This card sits in a lace pocket. The pink rose was made by the wonderful flower artist Dana over at the Lambs and Ivy Design blog.

I am so excited about how this book is turning out!!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you liked what you saw!! Leave me comment...I answer every comment that is ever left on my blog. ( you see.. I'm a chatter :):) hehe

Have a super great day!!

My Block Swap Trade and "The Slump" !!

I just finished my Block Swap!! Elizabeth is my partner this month, I hope she likes her new block!!
You gotta love Kaffe Fasset fabric!! I sure do :)

Well, I have gotten emails from some of my blog friends wondering where I was??? I have a confession I need to make.....I am in an art slump!! There I said it...but it is the truth. I made the above block because I knew I needed to. I made a commitment to Elizabeth and I wanted to keep it. But, it was very hard to just sit and make something. So, in my wondering WHY I am having this slump....I think I have come to the reason.

I love all kinds of art, quilting, mixed media, and art journaling. I have been doing a ton of quilting and very little anything else....so I decided I REALLY need to do some art journaling and mixed media stuff too!!! I am missing that side of my art. So, I am going to keep up with my UFO quilt list...but I am really getting more paper art into my life. I have been super inspired by all the Pinterest hopping I have been doing!! I am so ready to get my fingers sticky and paint stained, that I can hardly think straight.  :):)   So, I said all this in the hopes that you   (my blog friends) will like my paper art side of me as much as you like my quilting side :):) I have thoroughly enjoyed making all my new friends...and I guess I am a little bit fearful that if I start showing you my paper art you might not like my blog any more!... I know, I know.... I am being silly.....sigh......I am just letting you know what is rolling around in my head!

I will keep quilting my UFO's and show you my progress, my quiltie trades, and showing you my art journals. I hope you will like what you see!! Many thanks to all of you for your friendship!!!

Let's Get Em' Done Linky Party!!

Hello Lovely blog friends!! I am so excited to be doing my very first Linky party!!! I have been looking for a way to encourage myself and my art friends to get all the wonderful projects we have started.....finished!!   Basically, this is just a show and tell...where we really encourage each other to finish stuff up. You can handle this in several ways...   First) You can come back to this blog on the 15th every month and show a finished project.     Second) You can just show your progress on a project that you are working on finishing. Let's face it some projects will take months, so just sharing the process is great. I would really like to see this format turn into a place we can ask questions of each other, and seek advice if you get stuck and would like input!  Sooo, here is my UFO post........

I don't have a single thing finished this time...I had plans on having something finished...but, then Baby bear called and my life was put on hold and off I went to California to be with him :):) So,  I am putting 2 projects on my to do list...These cream bow ties. I want to have them pieced and quilted by the next "Get Em' Done Linky Party"

Second, I really want to finish this batik quilt. I just need to layer and quilt.

So, what would you like to see finished?? Or, perhaps you already have a finish? Please link up and show us.

Don't forget to grab my button...I would love it if we could spread the news.

Also, please try and leave words of encouragements  on as many blogs as you can get to!! I think the more we talk to each other, the more fun we will have. :):)

Let's Get Em' Done Ya'll !!!

Hello Blog Friends!!!  I wanted to introduce to you a new Linky Party here on my blog!! I really wanted  a place where we can support and encourage each other with all our projects that we have started and have a place where we can get encouragement on finishing up our UFO's.    If you are anything like me...I start a lot of things and never seem to Get Em' done. Of course I get distracted by all the wonderful things that others are doing and think to myself...I want to do that!! And then I'm off and running into a new project :):)   So, this being said, I wanted a place where I could look forward to finishing up some UFO's.  While encouraging others to finish also.

Here is my idea... On the 15th of every month I will post a linky party here. Where you can link up and show us a finished project or a progress report on finishing one up. Every little step forward will get you one step closer to finishing your UFO's. We can encourage each other with the progress. You can handle this linky party one of two ways.   First, You can just show progress of a UFO.    Second, you can pick a project and give yourself a goal to have it finished by the next 15th. Some months we will be able to do just that, other months life will run away with us..and progress on a UFO will only be possible. ( and that will be okay too!)

I hope you will all join me in this linky party. I will be back this Thursday the 15th with the Linky gadget.... ready for any one who would like to show us a progress report.

Be sure to grab my new button. I'd love it if we spread the word around blog land!!

Take the next couple of days to sort your UFO's and make a list. I placed my list on my side bar. My goal is to get it completely finished by the end of the year. That will be 12 finishes!!! Yes!!!

I look forward to seeing you on the 15th!!
Let's GET EM' DONE ya'll !!!
