Quilting + Paint + Stuffing = Pillow

I have been working on something NEW!!! When I went to the Houston Quilt Show last month I picked up the new silk paints. They are acrylics...but have mica dust in them. So, everything you paint with them turns out with a shimmer to it. Well, the gals at the booth were painting quilted pillow panels with these paints...YES!!!!! I was in!!! So, I bought the above quilted square and my paints.....and here is what happened!!

Some paint added.... At this point I got clumsy and dropped my paint brush...(yikes) ..but I carried on instead of scrapping the project. I did my best to cover it up.

Adding paint!!!
Okay..another spot I didn't like...the strips are sooooo not working for me....what to do?? I will just paint it black!!!
Yep....the black looks better!!! Here I am drawing on the quilted lines for more definition! I wanted to be able to see each feather better. Yep...still liking it :):)

Next...the black was to boring...so I used my new wood blocks to stamp on the black!! Yep!!! Really liking it now!!
Ta Da!! I reallllllly love this pillow top. I will pick a Kaffe Fasset to go with it and make a pillow out of it. It goes to show ...keep going with a project even when you don't like it anymore...you could always discover that if you keep working it you will like it!!

Much love everyone!!!

A Finished Quilt!!!

I am so happy...I finally finished a quilt......and I am binding another, which means 2 quilts will be done!!!!
Here is a close up of my quilting. I used a leafy design. I quilted it on my Bernina.
The back. I like to use up my fabric..and make pieced backs.

I think you can see the quilting better here.
Well, I had a great Thanksgiving with my family!!!
I hope you all did too.
 Much Love....Sandie

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I have been sooo busy this month. I am looking forward to slowing down with family for the next few weeks. I have great photo's of all the stuff I have been doing this last month.
I went to a Bottle Angel class with Karen Valentine. We started with vintage glass bottles. The class was so much fun. Here are the two bottles I made.

All the angels made in the class by the other students!! Aren't they so cute!!!
Then I headed over to the Frenzy Stamper and took a journal class with Kelly Kilmer. I really enjoyed meeting Kelly and learning from her.
From there I went to The Big Heap with Karen Valentine to look for some treasures!! Which I did!!

Then I went across town to meet Samie Kira. I went with Emily Lagore from Canada. We had a wonderful time arting in a coffee shop. We were there for 4 hours!!!

Our mess on the coffee shop tables :):):)
....and then I went to a book binding class with my BFF Karen Valentine at the Occasional Artist. The book I made is above!! It is 3 x 6. It will fit perfectly in my purse for note taking!!
I also saw the Breaking Dawn movie twice now!!!! I am sure I will have to go again :):):) I so totally love this movie series.
...and on a personal note....I have lost 57 pounds...and I now fit into a pair of 14 jeans!!!!!!
Hot diggity dog!!!!! It has taken me almost 2 years to lose this much weight...not to fast..just right for me :):):)

It is my wish that everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! I will be spending time with my family.....and maybe adding a pound or two :):)

Thanks for following my  Art journey.
Be Blessed!!

Old to New

I got this vintage photo album from Etsy!! I wanted to gut it and turn it into a new art journal!!
Here are the old pages from inside the album!
I took the old pages out, and made a new set of papers to put inside the covers. Here are the pages ready for sewing.
I took a class called Full Tilt Boogie. Here is the binding method I learned in that class. The black strips is a velvet ribbon.
A looksy inside the new journal!!
I used nice papers for the outside of each signature, as this binding method is an exposed binding!! I love the way it turned out!! I have 3 more vintage albums I will turn into journals one day!!

Have a wonderful day!!!
Much love

Houston Quilt Show and Tell

WOW!!!! That is the only word I can think of at this moment!! WOW!!! It never ceases to amaze me when I go to this quilt show. This was my 4th time to attend. I have some pictures to share.. enjoy!

These are just a few of the quilts that just floored me on the spot!! Of course, it goes without saying that these photos don't even capture the beauty of each quilt!!
This quilt went all the way to the ceiling and to the floor. Amazing!! I have no idea how she even quilted it!?!
I love animals!! I was very happy to see so many portraits of animals on quilts!!
This was one of my favorite quilts!!! Hand appliqued and machine quilted!! Stunning!!
And finally we have the grand prize winner!! Best of Show!! There was several thousands of crystals on it as well!!

Now on to the shopping!! There were 1000 booths to shop at!! It took 3 shots for me to get it all. When you see these pictures you will understand why my feet were killing me!!!

I did buy a few things!! I knew I could not get out of this show without buying something :):) (hehe) I feel in love with these hand carved wooden blocks from India... had to have a few....The picture below is the booth shot...not what I bought!! I only bought 4 blocks :):)
Of course I had to have me some Kaffe!!! I was good this time last time I bought mounds of Kaffe!!!

But then I ran into a ribbon booth that was selling Kaffe Fassett ribbon!!!! Really!!! I'm so sorry hubby my dear but I need to use the credit card :):)

The bottom photo were none Kaffe ribbons that just jumped into my basket :):)
Isn't it just pretty!! I can't wait to make something with all this lovely ribbon!!
Last photo!! I had a great time at the show!! Even though my feet are just killing me right now!!! It is a show worth going to at least once in your life time!!  I do have one recommendation for you... DONT GO ALONE!!!  Grab your best pals and go together!! I'm sure it would have been a lot more fun for me to walk the show with a friend and share the experience with someone who loves quilting as much as I do!!!

Me and my feet are VERY glad to be HOME!!!!
Thanks for your visit!!
Much love
