Where Bogger's Create 2013

Welcome to my Studio:):) I am so happy to show you around.  I would like to thank Karen Valentine for hosting this tour again.  She always does an awesome job:):)
Below is my bedroom turned into a studio.....
As you can see LOTS of stuff. So much stuff...well, most of it is sewing related stuff. I am a quilter...but, as you know if you follow my blog...I have been dipping my fingers into the mixed media waters:):) ....and my STUFF started to grow...exponentially!!!!! So, with no room in the house... my darling Hubby got me a one year lease on an apartment...to put all my mixed media stuff in. We have a third car garage that we can turn into a very large art room...but, I have always thought I would like a studio not in my house....some place else to go and create :):) So, we decided to TRY that first.......
Welcome to my Mixed Media Studio......
I love Ikea furniture...... a lot!!!! The butcher block with drawers is AWESOME!!!!!!
I brought over some of my quilts...to happy the place up:):)
Under my tarp I have my cutting board waiting to be used....
                                                            ...a peek into my drawers....
So....after 6 months of carting stuff back and forth from my house to the apartment...I have come to realize that separate places for my art is not what I had in mind and it is cutting into my creative flow for sure....and I have decided to turn our extra garage into a mixed media art room....I will have enough room to teach classes if I want....and have friends over to art with me:):)
...of course we have a TON of stuff to get rid of:):)....lol!!!! You know we all have stuff that we never use but, just don't want to get rid of!  We will have a shed brought in to put the things we really want to keep.
...the wall on the right side is my kitchen in the house...so we will have a door put in the wall to connect it to the house. A ceiling, lights, fans, electric, drywall, french doors, and floors will make this room very cool:):) We start construction in September:):) Very excited!!!!!

When this space is done I will have taken over 3 areas in our house for art :):)
....sigh... the joys of living with an artist:):)

I HAVE A BIG GIVE-A-WAY COMING SOON FOR ALL MY FOLLOWERS....I AM PURGING MY QUILT BOOKS AND MIXED MEDIA BOOKS...I WANT TO GIVE THEM TO YOU!!! SO.....BECOME A FOLLOWER IF YOU WANT IN:):)

Hope you all enjoyed looking through my studio's....
I am off to look at yours:):)
Much love- Sandie

Truly a HAPPY place.

I too joined in on the party at My Desert Cottage. Now that I am done organizing my space, I can get going on my art pieces. That is tomorrow's challenge.

love your studio-and very organized which is good for finding everything-lol I know what you mean about taking over the house-my studio room is small so I have a weaving loom in the living room and a hand quilting frame-large in the bedroom-

Just WONDERFUL! How interesting that you tried the studio-outside-the-home route but found it didn't work so well. I've wondered about that and could see pluses and minuses for doing it. But I share your angst over the proliferation of stuff once you began mixed media. As if sewing alone didn't have enough stuff! ha.

Funny how it all tends to expand outward. Love your space.

You have amazing spaces. I love all of the color! Wow a separate apartment. I bet that was cool and weird at the same time. I agree though making that garage into a studio will be so cool. Well congratulations on having a husband that understands your need to create. My husband is very understanding as well.

Wow Sandie! That space is going to be incredible!!! You are so lucky to have all those options; a large room, and apartment(!) and now a new room to design and decorate. How awesome will that be. Thank you for stopping by - have fun at the party!!! (Love the Beanie bears BTW, my daughter has a lot of those larger ones too - so cute!)

Oh my how exciting , your plans for redoing your garage into an art room! I bet you will like that much better than a separate location! Loved your studio tour!

Hi Sandie! I should show your post to my husband. He can't understand why I keep running out of space! :)
Love the tour and can't wait to see updates on your remodel!

I love all the color in your spaces. Your new studio plans sound very exciting.
I am taking a different approach...I am trying to scale back and am in purge mode. I have too much stuff.

I admit to being a tad jealous of the studio/apartment at first. But I think you'll love having it all there with you. Toting back and forth gets old and what about those middle of the night creative whims?
Thank you for stopping by my studio this morning.

Love your bedroom studio and the apartment studio. I totally get that it is better to have my studio in my home where I can go and play anytime I want. I still don't know when I'll be able to make a special art date but most likely it will be in the Fall after your trip to Europe.

I kept my studio tour blog post simple with photos and a few words. I love some of the studios I've already seen this year with all the collections photographed. It's not what I do but I like to look, right?

Great artwork as always.

Hi Sandie, Ha I was thinking as I read through your post, I would never be going back and forth to a studio to create, I love my home and comfort too much, ha and then I see where you changed your mind after 6 months, lol. Yep the extra garage it should be and you will love it!

Have fun and I can't wait to se it all after it is finished!
Hugs and love ya,

Hi, Sandie. I loved your studio - too bad you're going to pack it up and move but I'd want to be close to home myself. I really liked all the color - the teddy bears and art on the walls. I also noticed your hanging lanterns - they look like globes - really neat! Thank you! :-)

I've often wondered if I would like going to a separate location to create in. You are really lucky to have had the chance to try it and now you know you would rather be home. How exciting to create a new space from scratch! Thank you for the tour!

I forgot to answer your question, I'll be running some online workshops shortly. Thank you for your kind offer for a visit but I don't see a trip to the US on the horizon just yet, maybe in the future.

What a fabulous space! I love your storage and all of the colors you have decorated with. Your colorful papers are really pretty. I found the black organizer at JoAnn's.

Wow! You have a very supportive husband. I love the apartment idea though... but can totally see that it would cut into art time - in a big way. Cannot wait to see when your new art room is done after September! Take care!

You have an awesome space! It is HUGE!!! And so organized. An art apartment - how cool is that!!! Although my hubby would claim our apartment here in Singapore is an art apartment : 0 Love the two tabletops to work on and the drawers in the butcher block are perfect. and I love your poodle collection! thanks for visiting my studio!

Holy Crow!! So many goodies.. so much creativity swirls around you! I am in awe of how you have organized everything. And I so appreciated your telling us your reaction to having a separate space for a studio. One you have to walk to. You see, whenever that right home pops up in Charleston, I will want a studio there, also. My realtor suggested renting a space. Initially, I thought how grand! Then I realized, for me, it might not be the best as the distance would be a deterrent to my working there. You know... "the thrill is gone, baby!" Good to know you felt the same way. Thanks for showing us around. I had a great time!!

Hi Sandra,
We renovated the house last year! There is a lot of work ahead of you, but it is so worth it. Love your art!

Oh Sandie - all I can say is that you must be such a prolific quilter and mixed media artist needing to spread your work over that many spaces! I'm sure you are going to love the third option and will so look foreward to when the garage has been converted.
Your work is so alive and vibrant and you have such a fantastic collection of fabrics and art materials.
I know how much you love to create!

Anyway it must be hard to be away from your babies when you create in the apartment or do they accompany you there.
How is your baby Bella going - quite the teenager these days?
Hugs to you girfriend!
Suzy

Fantastic spaces and I cant wait to see how the garage turns out, I hope you'll post that as you keep going on that project. I know what you mean about having a space away from home, it sure has its positive and negative. I wanted one outside of our house too, but I would never be able to get there... (my daughter has special needs and is home a lot, so working from home works the best, plus I can go in there and work in my PJ's, that's always a bonus : )

Great tour, thank you for sharing!! and good luck with your new space to be!!
