House Construction Begins...and New Journals:)

Well, my house has been pulled apart...my wonderful sewing room that was my master bedroom...is no more...every thing has been put into boxes....and I will not see any of it until the end of the year....when the extra garage we have in the back of our house, has been turned into my NEW home studio.  Of course, the ends will justify the means...I'm getting a brand new bedroom, and bathroom..with the all important BATHTUB!!!!! I have missed taking long soaking bathes:):)

So, I have been all about the journal making mode...since my quilting room was put away:):) I made two new journals this week, as well as boxing up my room::):)   I love making the journals more than filling them I think:):)....LOL!!! So, this past 2 weeks I made 2 new journals...so here they are:):)
Emily Lagore and I traded pages..and decided to bind books with the art work. Then we would have a book made by both of us:):)  I decided to coptic stitch this book...which is one of my favorite binding methods.
Then I hung out with Emily and her sister Carol for a few days...and watched Carol work on a great journal her niece made for her. I loved that is was made with all kinds of different papers..and stuff......so, I decided to make another journal.
                                                        ....collecting all my papers....
.....covering my covers with modeling paste....
.....signatures all ready to bind into the journal....

....adding several different paints to the covers.....then some sanding.....
...and finally the binding...with velvet ribbons.....
...and my favorite Picasso saying stamped on tissue paper, then glued on the journal cover:)
...and the inside ...filled with yummy papers....
....of course, when it was all said and done...I sewed one of the signatures upside down. Arrgg!! If it had been one or two pages I would have left it...but it turned out to be 14 pages...upside down!!!! So, I had to take the book apart...then put it back together again:):).....sigh....
But, it was worth it....just a yummy journal.
That was fun...I want to make more journals!!! My friend Karen thinks I should make them and sell them on Etsy...since I like making them so much....hmmm....I thinking that just might be a good idea:):)

Thanks for stopping by:)
Much love- Sandie

Nice journals, Sandie! I love making books. I think you SHOULD sell them on Esty - they're wonderful. Keep us posted on the new studio.

Busy Busy Busy girl! Moving a Studio is HARD work.
I think your journals would sell well on Etsy (hint hint....I would buy one)
I have had my etsy store for a few years ....but I never stocked it.
Maybe we could be Etsy sisters. I have some "small project bags" that I made just for Etsy....but I never posted them in the store.....fear of failure??? or fear of success??? who knows....But I am stuck.

Good luck with the project! Love your journals. Like you, I enjoy making them but get stuck with writing in them. Those papers are luscious!

Love the journal with those beautiful pages. You must write on them, even one statement a day for memory sake. The studio sounds exciteing.

Loved seeing the photographs of your journal-in-process with Emily. I have carved stamps backwards {well forwards, so they print in reverse}, sewed things inside out and upside down... so funny to see I'm not the only one! Best wishes on your house reno!
