Mini Twist

So...this mini has been on my wish list for years!!! I have recently made myself more wall room in my Quilt Studio...and I wanted to hang some vintage metal letters that spell out SEW and hang mini quilts all around the letters. Mini quilts I have made or swapped for.

This pattern looks hard ...but it is not. It starts with just squares. Then you use the tiny ruler to chop apart what you just sewed. And when you sew it back get the twist.!!!
I like to call this pattern ...The  Incredible Shrinking Pattern!!! LOL!!! It will shrink like 3 times before the quilt is finally made. The first photo of just squares and a border... was about 25 inches.

When you get this all sewn together finishes at 10" inches!!!

That is 100 one inch squares!!! Yikes!!!

But, I am totally happy with this little guy!!!

All quilted...and hanging on my Mini wall.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Allietore Mystery Update

I am so happy with myself!!! LOL!!! I have printed out Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt every year for the past 6 years. I have never done one while it was running. Ms. Bonnie kicks off this free mystery on her blog the day after Thanksgiving every year. That is such a busy time of year... and I never seem to have the time. But this year...I have NOT only printed each part...but I have done them too!!!! Yahoooooo!!!!

You can find the mystery parts HERE on Bonnie's blog.

I'm hooking this blog post up with the Mystery Linky Party.

To see the Linky Party click HERE.

Part 1-  (294) Half square triangles. Done!!
(I switched out the grey for the green)

Part 2- (20) sets of four Santa hats....(hehe)    All done!!!

When I was working with the blocks above...I did a second sew line and came up with these cute little half square triangles. Not sure I will do with them ...but I see maybe a Christmas mini. :0)

Part 3- (120) 4 patches. Done!!!

It is never to late to join in on the free mystery quilt fun....You can find the Mystery on Bonnie's blog...HERE

If you don't have time to work on it can always print the steps out and work on it at another time.

I'm hooking this blog post up to the Linky Party over on Bonnie's blog.

EPP Plus Tutoiral part 2

I have had several requests on my EPP Plus quilt...mostly on how to put the pluses together.
I have hesitated on doing this...because it will be hard to take photos of the process without showing a ton of pictures. So I will do my not bore you...hehe.

The top row is my selection for the next row.

If you lay the plus in the spot it goes you can see that there will be 3 seams you will need to sew. Starting where my finger is. Now put right sides together and sew that one seam.

Now to work on the next seam.  Place right sides together again...and sew this one seam.

And lastly you will flip the plus again and sew the last seam.

It will look like this as you are working.

Now you lay the next plus in its you can see, now you will have 6 seams that you will need to sew to attach this plus.

Now you just carry on until all the plus blocks are connected to each other.

TIP*  Don't ever remove the papers behind the pluses until all the sides have been sewn. When you flip your project over and see pieces that are completely surrounded with stitches... it is safe to remove the papers from the back. Simply clip your basting stitches...and pop them out. I find it easier to maneuver the project with less paper involved.

As you can see I have removed the papers from the inside of the project...but have left the papers on the edges.

Hope this helps you understand how to put these cool little blocks together.

A Day in the Life of Sandra Kaye

So today I did a "Day in the Life of Me"...over on Instagram ....I have questions all the time... How do you get so much done? Do you sleep? Do you eat? Well....I am a firm believer in "one bite at a time"... I do little bits of lots of different things in one day. (mostly because I can get bored!!!) So, for today's post I thought I would show you all a glimpse into my art filled life.
7:45 am- My days always start with poodle snuggles....hehe

8:00am-- Soaking bottle trees in bleach.
8:15am Cleaning cubby
Poodles checking on Mommy....They are confused by me being in the garage...hehe!!!

Back to working on the cubby

2:50 pm back up in art studio getting my swap packages ready...and my give-a-way packs for the contest I ran on Instagram (which is now over)

I gave these away for those who could answer the questions right and first. That was lots of fun!!!

3:55pm I found myself in the quilt studio working on my butterfly mini.

Poodle potty break!!!

4:10pm...  Stopping art to cut my nieces hair!!!

5:00pm I stopped to explain the Give a way and stretch my shoulders from quilting.

5:35 finished quilting my butterfly.

5:45pm rinsed and finished my bottle trees. That one in the middle was very stubborn!!! Now they need to dry.

6:00 pm.... I finally finished cleaning the cubby. Now trying to decide if I will paint it....HMMM????

There was a feeding frenzy on IG over this fun giveaway!!! All the followers had to do was go back into my feed and tell me what I was doing at a certain time of the day!

And the first one to give me the right answer ...WON!!!
Daisy was trying sooo hard to be first!!! and she made it on the last photo! She sent me this photo of how she did it....LOL!!!!

She took notes of my day.....LOLOLOLOL!!!! She replied to my question within seconds!!!This made me laugh sooo hard!!!

This was a fun day for me.... and I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my art life.
Not ever day is like this...some days I stay in my pj's, read, or take nap with my poodles.

But...I do stuff everyday...and eventually stuff gets done...but it looks like I'm getting tons of stuff done..when really I have been working on things over several days.
