Where Blogger's Create 2015

Welcome to my studio!!!! I am so happy that you decided to stop by. I am linking this post up with Karen Valentine's .... Where Blogger's Create 2015. This will be my 4th year participating :0)

I love all kinds of art....mixed media, quilting, book binding, and art journaling. It is my hope that you will stay for a bit and have a look around. I am super blessed to have 2 different studio's in my home. A Mixed Media studio and a Quilting studio.

As most of you know I moved back to Florida in August last year... (I can't believe it's almost been a year) ....and I would have to say my new home is nice and settled...and I LOVE it :0)

Let's start this tour with my Mixed Media Studio.

On the left is the entry way into my Mixed Media studio...in the middle is the potty...and to the right is my Quilting studio.
My constant art companions Daisy and Zoey.
My main station...or the Captain's chair of this Star ship ...hehe!!!

Every piece of old furniture you are seeing...I bought second hand and used Annie Sloan chalk paint on it, and then distressed it with a power sander...in total 16 pieces in the studios and the house.

My Rolodex holder is full ...I did the swapping on IG to fill it up. YEAH!!!
My other constant art companion...Bella
My paint station.

My collection of art journals.

More art journals...and my collection of old books at the top. (The collection grew way bigger than that top shelf...LOL!!!!)

Now we are back in the hallway....
The stair case in the hall  houses my treasured "Happy IG Heart Canvas" ....and more old books.

More art and one of my quilt ladders holding quilts I have made.
Art potty...and my button collection. And the entry to my Quilting studio.

The back corner with the TV is the Captain's chair of the quilting room  :0)

Fabric!!! I have it every where!!! And my cutting/pressing station.
When I need a planning board I pull them out and place them here so I can work on different quilt projects. How I made these boards from the hardware store...is a free tutorial...click HERE and you can see how I made them.

I'm a Bernina girl all the way..."Nothing sews like a Bernina!"  I call them Mama Nina and Baby Nina!!! I even hung my rulers up on the wall.

My vintage collection. Laces, doilies, and trims.  Again this cubby was a dark stained wood...and I attacked it with Annie Sloan chalk paint and my sander :0)

More fabric...and my planning boards tucked away.

Behind the curtains...more stuff that I need but don't necessarily need to see it.

In this photo you can see my Mixed Media studio through the door on the left.
The reason why I loved this house was because these two rooms were nice and BIG...lots of room to spread out.

Well folks...You have just walked through my HAPPY SPACE.
I am here all day... everyday :0)

The only thing that could make me happier with my little world...is when friends come and join me here. Which I am happy to say happens often :0)

Thanks so much for stopping by... Click HERE to get back to Karen's blog and check out all the other studios.

You have the most colorful and amazing studio, Sandie. I love the vibe it puts off. I also love your quilts. They are amazing. I have no such talent, so I admire anyone who can cut and sew a straight line. We have many similar interests, but you manage to create in a far more beautiful environment. I love it!

I love your studio! It really is a happy place with lots of whimsy. Your IG Happy Hearts is beautiful! I am intrigued by its title and wonder if you down loaded some of them from IG or borrowed ideas from there? It's such a happy piece and I love hearts so would love to get the particulars. I would have never known that you just moved a year ago. Kudos to you for a job well done.

Thanks for showing us around you creative spaces. I'm fortunate to have a workroom but I'm a tad jealous that you have two! Your furniture is lovely, I'd rather use secondhand when I can. I'd love a rummage through your vintage lace and fabric stashes! I love your shower curtain in the art potty and all of the bright colours you've used on your walls. The sunny Florida light must make them sing!

I'm hoping all the comments you have received so far this morning are helping with the healing process of the new surgery. The art rooms are bright and cheerful, just like you. Glad you are #1 on the blog tour this year. I'll continue to pray for speedy healing for you. I know the girls are a comfort to you right now and I'm sure you are super happy to have your DH with you for awhile. Take care, sweet friend. Hugs, Marrianna

I love that your a quilter and mixed media artist. I am a quilter too. It is my passion. But I recently got into mixed media through a desire to illustrate scripture. I'm no artist but I love it.
I will definately be back to spend more time in your beautiful space to check out all your fabulous storage ideas. I need lots of help fitting all my stuff into my space. Thanks for sharing. I loved visiting.

What impresses me about your crafting area is that you have more than one, specific to what you are making and they are all wonderful. Neatly organized and colourful. Repurposing a piece of furniture with some paint sure saves money and I like the Annie Sloan colour you chose.
Happy crafting from #33.

Sandra, your studio is so organized and colorful and happy and gorgeously perfect! How wonderful that you have room for two separate spaces . . . what a blessing. I especially love your Rolodex . . . among so many others things, like your art work that brightening the walls and your dogs there to keep you company as you create. Like I said before . . . perfect.
Have a lovely week.

Both spaces are fantastic, Sandie! So colorful, vibrant and full of life! I love the furniture pieces you thrifted and gave a new life as storage in both rooms. It looks like they have definitely come in handy. Your quilts are just beautiful. It must be nice to have two rooms to separate both your talents. I would probably go crazy with the fabric though if I had a separate room just for sewing!

Wow! Just wow! So much beauty here: The colors, the quilts, the art journals, the fabric, the curtains for closet doors, the heart canvas, the potty wall color and shower curtain, the helpers! I can't imagine how long it took you to paint and distress all that furniture. I've managed to do one hutch and four chairs in Annie Sloan and it took me forever. You must be an Energizer bunny!

Hi and thank you so much for posting this wonderful tour of your creative space. I fell in love at the first photo. As i scrolled and read bit by bit i remembered that when i was 20 and again 22 i wanted to create a space and paint furniture. Reading your story about the paint and love you poured into your space gave me both nostalgic feelings and a (momentary) sense of having left some important part of my life incomplete. I appreciate and celebrate your joy in creativity. it makes me happy to participate with you even on this level. i look forward to returning frequently to your happy space
