I added a new piece to my Quilt studio. A 1937 Hotel mailbox from downtown Jacksonville, Fl.... before they flatten the building. My friend Maria purchased it first...sold it to a Scrapbook store...purchased it back when the store was closing...then put it out there that she no longer wanted it in her house. SQUEEEEEEE!!!! So, I bought it from her...at an awesome low price.
...and by now I'm sure you are all know about my obsession with Annie Sloan paint! In the above photo I needed to clean the years of dust and dirt off this bad boy...and get it ready for painting. So, off came the back. "Cheese"... I see you :0)
I spent many hours in the garage cleaning this thing...and my girls came to check on me often. They of course never stayed out there with me...as there was no soft place to lay down. LOL!!
Paint every where!! I wore paint clothes for 7 days straight...and went no where :0)
I decided to pull out every other divider...so I would have more room. Here it is in place and distressed. Now to fill it.
Here is the BEFORE picture. I love the uniqueness of antiques. But they can be expensive or hard to find when you are setting up your studio. So...I bought this Ikea cubby thing....and it worked...but was just NOT pretty. Not what I really wanted. The cubes next to it holding my laces and such...is perfect!! LOVE!!
So, down to my bedroom closet went the big cubes...
And in came my new piece. LOVELOVELOVE!!!!
I decided to not stand it up the other way. I wanted space on the wall over it to hang a mini quilt collection. The Letters are from old metal signs that I found. (that my sister spray painted for me...cause I totally suck at spray paint) The sticks poking out down the center...have all my fun ribbons and trims on them.
Yep...totally happy with this picture :0)
Its important to me that my studios feel good to me...and are very inviting to me. When you surround yourself with things you love....You will truly have a HAPPY PLACE.
and I do.
