The New Hexagon Book

I am having a blast making these blocks from the book.... "The New Hexagon" by Katja Marek

I decided to NOT do my blocks all by hand. So, I'm calling mine Hybrid blocks. I'm piecing by hand, Machine sewing them onto the big hexagon, machine quilting them, and I'm hand quilting the edges with peril cotton threads with big stitches. Then I will machine stitch them all together. LOL!!! "Hybrid"

It's a great time to practice my free-motion quilting.
I have 11 done now...and there are 63 blocks. 52 in the book, and 11 free one the Katja gives out on her website.
And what makes it even more fun to work in this book...I'm NOT doing it alone. I grabbed some friends to join me. We meet once a month. At my house. On our first meeting we of course got a group shot in the "Happy Potty"....Back row Becky, Kate, Paula, then Laura and Me. LOL!!! Kate is so tiny we had her stand on the toilet so she could be seen amongst us tall people...hehe!!
This is a super fun group of Gals!!!
I look forward to them coming :0)

Be sure to check out Katja's website for this quilt. Click on her name and it will take you there. :0)

thanks for stopping by....I am off to my first Quiltcon ... in Savannah, Georgia!!!
I am too excited!!!!

Hi Sandie, what a fun post! You are the only person I know of that would do a group shot in the "Happy Potty" room, LOL. About this book, before I get overly excited and order one, I have a question. Are there full size template patterns for each of these Hexies in the book? They look like fun, not only for a quilt but for mug rugs, too :)
Have a happy week.
Connie :)
