Vacation Quilt

Confession Time....I can be a bit of a pack-rat! HeHe! When we go places I would love to collect things from where we have been. But to make sure THAT doesn't happen my Darling Hubs came up with the idea of hat pins.  Because he didn't want spoons, mugs, towels, t-shirts, bears, shaker globes...oh boy, this list could go on forever...and collect dust in the house. So, I was restricted to Hat pins...and I was okay with that. I set out and made my first quilt to hold my "Vacation" pins. Of course I made it to small and filled it quickly. I have since made this new quilt and it will take a long time to fill it.  OH how I love the HUNT. Where ever we go...the first thing I HAVE TO DO... is FIND MY PIN!!! Then I can enjoy my vacation. LOL!!!
This quilt hangs in the hall way near the quest potty (Happy-potty) :0)
The rest of the pictures are close ups of places I have been with friends or with Family.
Two of my favorites...

The yellow feet was when I went to Parris Island and saw my Son graduate from one of the hardest Boot Camps ever.... Marine Corps.

The one above it was when He was deployed to Afghanistan and finally came home...I drove to California (from AZ) by myself in LA traffic!!!! (YIKES!!) To see my Baby Boy. To make sure he had all his fingers and toes. (He did) We were walking around the base the next day...and he said to me .."Mom, do you want to go into a gift shop here on base? You might find a hat pin?" My Family knows me well. :0)

Now you are probably getting an inkling why my Hubs has restricted me to pins... LOL!!! I never buy just one pin. Unless that is all they have. Ha!
Went to Paris with my Sister...Oh, What a trip!!! and what a hunt!!! These pins were VERY hard to find!!!! But I WAS NOT COMING HOME without at least one!!! :0)

I LOVE finding my pins!!! As you can imagine it is ever so disappointing when someone tells me they DON'T have hat pins!!! Then I will go get a postcard or sticker and put it in my journal. So, I don't break the "collecting dust rule" LOL!!!

Thanks for stopping by :)

That is the cutest quilt and love the pins on it. Great idea to show them off.

What a fun way to display these all together. Just glancing at it as you walk past can always spark a fond memory. Very nice.

Ha, when i read hat pins I was thinking of those long pins worn to hold hats on your head. These are much more collectable. In Australia called lapel pins. I collect fridge magnets.

How fun it that. Wouldn't it be sweet hanging in an RV with pins from all the cool placed you've camped. A very sweet way to recall fond memories :) You are so creative girlfriend!
